If you and your family are heading to Tybee Island, Georgia in the summer or the fall, you won’t want to miss some of the island’s coolest local events. From a seafood festival to art fairs to nautical parties, you’re sure to find something that’s right up your alley. Here is a small sampling of the beach town’s best festivals, fairs, and other events.
1. Tybee Island Seafood Festival
What is an island festival without lots of seafood? The Tybee Island Seafood Festival is all about seafood and fun! This family event takes place on the pier and features local restaurants which serve up seafood delicacies and more. The fun doesn’t stop at the food though, this festival also features special guest performances and a carnival. The event also offers educational activities for the younger crowd so you can feel free to stay and enjoy yourselves at this fun beach festival. 2. Labor Day Beach Bash
End your summer with a bang at the Labor Day Beach Bash on Tybee. Come and enjoy a free oceanfront concert from The Swinging Medallions, a cool pop band that performs for special events throughout the southeast. The concert ends with fireworks. 3. Tybee Island Pirate Festival
Once the weather gets a bit cooler, the residents of Tybee come out to play. And with the Tybee Island Pirate Festival in early October, there is really no reason not to come out and join in the good time. The event, which lasts for an entire weekend, boasts a variety of pirate-themed entertainment including music and small shows. There’s also plenty of good food and a parade. 4. Tybee Island Festival Of The Arts
There’s another notable event in October and this time it’s free! The Tybee Island Festival Of The Arts hosts a large outdoor gallery of art pieces from artists all over the southeast. You will see oul paintings, mixed media pieces, pottery, jewelry, ceramics, photography, industrial art, and more. The festival will also feature live music performances.
